Foreword:
It was really amazing to see the enthusiastic response to Ashwini's idea about this newsletter! All of you chipped in, suggested names, voted in and have shown such tremendous encouragement that Ashwini is
really on Cloud 9 now!!
It was only befitting that we release a newsletter at the earliest so that you all could see what it is that she imagined!
So, here you have in your hands, the 1st edition of 'Amgele Loku'!
Welcome to another manifestation of your world!
All these years, we got together at 'get-togethers', participated in poojas & functions, celebrated festivals, ate, talked, sang bhajans & made merry! Now we add a new dimension to this by getting together on this newsletter!
Thanks for your energy so far & hoping that we take this forward with full steam!

Cryptic DaasaVaani:
Andhakananujana kandana tandeya kondana shiradali nindavana...
ಅ೦ಧಕನನುಜನ ಕಂದನ ತ೦ದೆಯ ಕೊಂದನ ಶಿರದಲಿ ನಿ೦ದವನ
As I listened to this song by Vidyabhushana Swamiji from the 'Kanakadaasara Padagalu' CD, I was wondering what kind of cryptic message is this? It took me nearly 5 times to keep rewinding, playing & writing down the words to make this sentence before I could even decipher it.
Well, that brings me to the point - I have not deciphered this yet and innumerable Google searches have not yielded any results.
So here it is, my 1st article to the ‘Amgele Loku’ newsletter , asking its readers to decipher the message and write back to the editor.
I think we all know the clue is that this is about Lord Krishna (since all Daasa songs are about Him)...the idea is to tell how this description fits him...and if you have heard the song, its full of more riddles that's worth unraveling....you can tell us the meaning of the entire song as well.
I'm on the search too! If I find it before you all, that will be my next article!

DO YOU KNOW?
We all know that our community thrived by the river Saraswati during Vedic times.
How many of these things assosiated with the word Saraswati do you know?
1. One of the first Konkani magazines
(clue: Akhila, Mridula and Nitin loved the strange North Canara Konkani words in these magazines and would often read out stories aloud much to the amusement of the family!)
2. India's biggest literary award
(no clues here, I'm sure you all know last year's recipient as well!)
3. Akhila, Mridula, Nitin and Nishanth's first business venture
(clue: it involved an orange truck where the driver would walk on all fours beside it! )
4. Founder of Arya Samaj
Please send answers to Ashwini only. She will
announce the results in the next newsletter.
